Another Surgery

Seems like thats all I have to talk about is surgeries, but thats been our life lately. Shawns bleeding didn't stop from his sinuses after 3 different packs had been placed in there. So we saw Dr. Pelczar Wednesday morning and he didn't think twice about taking Shawn back into surgery. Yesterday at noon Shawn went back into surgery, where they cleaned his nose and sinues out again, and found two spots that were the bleeders. Dr. Pelczar cotterized those two spots, and repacked him with the sinus fome. It desolves after a few days. We are home now today, and Shawn is doing much better compared to how he was feeling. He still has a recovery ahead of him. Which won't be to bad now.
The nursing staff at the surgery center are amazing, and so comforting. They made things as easy on the both of us as could be. Dr Pelczar is an amazing doctor. He is honest, caring, and just a nice guy. Not to mention...he is quite handsome.... SHH!!

Complications after surgery

So as you all know Shawn had surgery last Tuesday the 10th. Well on Saturday evening, Shawn started bleeding really bad out of his nose. He would get it under control for about an hour, then more bleeding. By 5 am I decided no more dinging around with this. I took him into the ER in Lewistown. Shawns mom came over to the house since Landon was still in bed. The doctor in the ER called the on-call ear, nose, and throart dr in Billings. He advised the Lewistown dr to put a pack in Shawn's nose. They put this balloon type pack in his nose that goes very far up his nose and has a tube running out of it, so they can blow it up more if needed. We got home and the bleeding had stopped for about 8 hrs. At about 9:30pm Shawn was gushing more blood. So I made the decision to take him to Billings, no more fooling around. I called my dear cousin Kristi to see if she would come with me. I was exhaused and just plain worried about Shawn. It was so nice to have her there with me. I had taken Ladon to my moms that afternoon, just incase this happened. That way I would already have him in his 2nd home with my mom and dad. We arrived in Billings at midnight. They got Shawn right in, and got him hooked up to all the monitors and started an IV. That pack in his nose was killing him, and it apparently wasn't stopping the bleeding. They got some good pain killers in him. And let him relax for a bit. They didn't want to take the pack out because they are supposed to be left in at least 48 hours after being placed in there. But after a few hours and more bleeding the ER dr finally took out the painful pack. They packed Shawn's nose with this goze time pack. And said we could go, and then we were supposed to see Dr. Pelczar in the morning. We got a motel just a few blocks away from the hospital at about 4 am. We were not in the room 20 minutes and Shawn was gushing blood again. So I told Kristi to stay and sleep and I took Shawn back to the ER. Finally they decided to call the ENT (ear nose and throat) doctor. He got there about 5 am and worked on Shawn. I won't share all the details because no one likes to hear about large amounts of blood. Anyways the ENT Dr. got him fixed up and said we could go get a few hours of sleep until we had to see the other Dr. I had made myself a little bed with a few chairs in the waiting room since it was going on 26 hours since we had been up, and at the ER in Lewistown. We got about 3 hours of sleep and saw Dr. Pelzcar in his office. He got some blood clots out of Shawns throat and re-packed his nose. As of now we are home and the bleeding has stopped. We have to go back to Billings Wednesday morning to get the pack removed from Shawns nose. I just want to thank you Kristi for coming with and just being my support. Also thank you for the meals you have brought over and everything you have done. You don't know how much it means to us. God Bless you. I love you dearly.

Ohh Landon...

Just wanted to share a few of the news things Landon has just told me the last few days. Last night when I was getting him dressed for bed, he told me he was going to take the baby in my belly and put him in the garbage truck so they would take him far away. I think someone is a bit jealous already. I know he really doesn't want to do that... but oh man it made me sad. He kissed my belly later and said "I love you baby" so hopefully we are over that little thing.

Then today I was watching a Baby Story, and Mr. Landon told me he needed to go to the Dr. because he was having the baby in his belly. I just had to laugh, and tell him it wasn't time to have our baby's yet. We will see what he comes up with next.... To Be Continued...

I just can't believe this little one day old baby has turned into quite the little boy he is today.

Home and on the mend now

Yesterday Shawn had his surgery. He was in pre-op for about an hour, then they took him back for what they said was going to be about a two hour surgery. Shawns mom was there with me, and after about two hours a nurse came out and told us, it was taking longer than they thought because Shawn was bleeding alot. His sinuses were really swollan so it took Dr Pelczar longer to get around in there. After another hour Dr. Pelcar came to talk to us. He told us that Shawn was doing good, but had lost quite a bit of blood and was having a hard time coming out from being under. Apparently he was fighting with the doctors in there... Dr. Pelczar said he is one strong guy. :) Shawn had no idea he was being a little fighter back there. After we talked with the dr. we had to wait about an hour more to see him. We finally got to go back to see him around 4:30 p.m. He didn't look good, which can be expected from all he went through, its still hard to see your strong husband looking like that. He was having a hard time keep his oxygen up, so they said he wasn't going to be able to go home till he kept it up on his own. Finally after about an hour nap he was keeping it up on his own. He was ready to just go home. So we finally got to leave about 6pm. He is doing good today. In alot of pain of course, but drinking well and trying to eat some. He is a very good patient. And Im really enjoying playing nurse... poppin pills in him every four hours and changing his nose pads.

Weekend in Butte (the naked mile)

This weekend we headed to Butte to see Shawns Dad, StepMom, brother Tyler, and sisters Sarie and Talia. We had not been there since the 4th of July, and with Shawns surgery coming up and the baby coming in 10 weeks for less we thought we better find time to go see his family. It was a nice mellow weekend for the most part. Landon kept every one entertained. On the way over to Butte he was singing a song about "Hinkey and Dewy" we asked him who they were and he said, "You know my ducky friends at home." So apparently Landon has some new friends we dont know about. That was pretty funny! We stayed at a motel because Shawns parents dont have a very big house and with Landon its just easier to stay at a motel. Shawn took Landon and his sisters swimming. Landon loved the water and jumped in a ton of times, and could care less if anyone catches him. He went under alot and it didnt seem to bother him. Definately going to put him in swimming lessons this summer. So Shawns sisters wanted to stay and swim and it was getting late so I decided to be the mean mom and take Landon out of the pool and go back to our room and get him ready for bed. We got back to the room and I got him undressed to rinse him off in the shower before bed time. As I was running the water Landon decided he was going back to the pool. He took off on a dead sprint naked down the hall.... not just one hall but like two halls. So here behind him is fat big belly pregnant mom running after him. He was just laughing his little butt off. A lady in the hall said oh look a naked boy running down the hall. Another family saw him and just cracked up. I on the other hand... did not laugh! That was the story of the weekend....The Naked Mile!
It was a very nice time with Shawns family. Shawns step mom Candi took me out shopping for baby things. She got a lot of nice things for the baby. Thanks Candi! Shawns brother Tyler graduates in June from High School. His sister Sarie is 15 and a freshman. She is just learning to drive. And his little sister Talia is 10, and quite a sweetheart. She played with Landon and kept him well entertained!
